How to troubleshoot common GE Monogram appliance problems

GE Monogram appliances are known for their quality and durability. However, even the best appliances can experience problems from time to time. If you are having trouble with your GE Monogram appliance, there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot the problem before calling for service.

Refrigerator

  • Refrigerator not cooling: Check the thermostat to make sure it is set to the correct temperature. If the thermostat is set correctly, the condenser coils may be dirty. The condenser coils are located on the back or bottom of the refrigerator. Vacuum the coils to remove any dust or dirt.
  • Ice maker not making ice: Make sure the ice maker is turned on. If the ice maker is on, check the water filter to make sure it is not clogged. The water filter is located in the front of the refrigerator. Replace the water filter if it is clogged.
  • Water dispenser not working: Make sure the water dispenser is turned on. If the water dispenser is on, check the water line to make sure it is not kinked or frozen. The water line is located behind the refrigerator.

Range

  • Oven not heating: Check the oven’s thermostat to make sure it is set to the correct temperature. If the thermostat is set correctly, the bake element may be burned out. The bake element is located at the bottom of the oven. Replace the bake element if it is burned out.
  • Cooktop burner not working: Check the burner’s igniter to make sure it is sparking. If the igniter is not sparking, it may be dirty or faulty. Clean the igniter with a wire brush. If the igniter is still not sparking, it may need to be replaced.
  • Broiler not working: Check the broiler’s element to make sure it is not burned out. The broiler element is located at the top of the oven. Replace the broiler element if it is burned out.

Dishwasher

  • Dishes not getting clean: Make sure the dishwasher is using the correct amount of detergent. If the dishwasher is using the correct amount of detergent, the spray arms may be clogged. The spray arms are located at the top and bottom of the dishwasher. Clean the spray arms with a wire brush.
  • Dishwasher not draining: Check the dishwasher’s drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged. The drain hose is located at the bottom of the dishwasher. Straighten out the drain hose if it is kinked. If the drain hose is clogged, clear the clog with a plunger.
  • Dishwasher not filling with water: Check the dishwasher’s water inlet valve to make sure it is not turned off. The water inlet valve is located behind the dishwasher. Turn on the water inlet valve if it is turned off.

If you have tried all of the troubleshooting steps above and your GE Monogram appliance is still not working, you may need to call for service.
